Testimonials

Hi my name is Eric. Let me tell you about my life story which started in 1992.

I had A.M.L.(leukemia) at age 12, very rare for my age, A.M.L. is found in adults 25 and older. I needed a bone marrow transplant so the doctor tested my two brothers and two sisters to find out there was something rare about my case—that my brothers and sisters were perfect matches; but till this day I not had a transplant because I have been in remission since July 7, 1993.

Today I am living with kidney failure and I am on dialyses. Some people think this would bring my spirit down after all I have been through, but I can say it has been life changing, but nothing I can’t handle. I am on a home hemo program that I am thankful for. It allows me to be with my wife and two kids more and do all the kind of things I like to do like baseball and cycling. I know it is hard sometimes but as long as there is friends and family to support you, you don’t need to let kidney failure bring you down. Be strong, try to stay active and live life!....that’s what I do and I feel great.

About

Crown Point is located in the Northwest corner of Indiana, in the heart of Lake County. Primarily residential, Crown Point is comprised of suburban and rural areas.

On October 31, 1834, Solon Robinson and his family become the first settlers to stake a claim in the area that will eventually become Crown Point. In February, 1837 Lake County is incorporated into a county with Liverpool, Indiana as the county seat.

Crown Point enjoys the combined benefits of a small community and a large urban population center. We are located just a few miles from several shopping centers, less than thirty minutes from three major universities, and just an hour's drive from the social, cultural, and entertainment attractions of Chicago.

Crown Point boasts the largest county fair in Indiana and one of the largest in all of the midwest. The county fairgrounds located on the southern side of town is home to Lake County's only covered bridge, historic exhibition buildings and the grandstand of the former Cobe Cup race track.

Historical Fun Facts:

President Reagan got married here (to Jane Wyman); so did Rudolph Valentino, who drove three times around the ornate high-towered courthouse, waving to assembled throngs. Today, "Valentino's," an ice cream parlor in the basement of the courthouse, is named after him.

A well-known marriage-mill in the 'twenties, Crown Point's greatest international fame came from the escape of desperado John Dillinger, after the famous photograph with his arm around the prosecuting attorney, in 1934. You can visit the jail cell where he was incarcerated, the jailhouse museum, and dine at a jail-themed restaurant. The jail, by the way, is the one from which Dillinger made his famous escape using a gun carved from wood (not soap as is commonly believed)!
