Volunteer Opportunities

All Volunteers will receive an event shirt and their event wristband at Volunteer Check In. Dress for the weather, it’s a good idea to have rain gear with you even if the forecast isn’t calling for it. Wear comfortable shoes and don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses.
Set Up
Set up the event site, including off-loading the supply truck, setting up pop-up tents, tables & chairs, signage and trash receptacles. This group will be required for early morning set up at 5:30am. 
Volunteer Check In
Check in volunteers, register/assign new volunteers, distribute their volunteer t-shirt and guide them to their shift location. Check In Volunteers will fill in for other volunteers who need food or bathroom breaks. They may also be asked to relieve a volunteer if their shift is over and a replacement has not yet arrived.
Greeters
Assist participants by directing them to various locations throughout the event site, answering questions and helping with crowd control.
Registration
Process walkers who are either pre-registered or registering on event day. This includes assisting walkers with registration forms and donation collection and distributing their event wristband. There will be a 30-minute training session before the shift begins.
T-Shirt Distribution
Responsible for setting up the t-shirt tent and distributing t-shirts to all registered walkers.
Food & Hydration
Work in the food/hydration area prepping, restocking and distributing water and snacks to walkers. Refreshment distribution will be organized so that late finishing walkers are able to enjoy the same refreshments as those arriving back first. This duty also includes cleanup and break down of boxes and collection of trash bags.
Kids Area
Volunteers will set up and assist with kids activities such as monitoring the bounce house, face painting and assisting with arts and crafts.
Beneficiary Area
Assist the Beneficiary with set up and operation of their outreach and testing areas. Knowledgeable regarding Chronic Kidney Disease.
Start/Finish
Assist with walker line up prior to the start of the event and cheer on walkers as they return to the finish line. Crowd control is also needed to keep walkers moving into the event site after crossing the finish line.
Course Marshals
Help guide the walkers along the 5k course and cheer walkers on as they pass by.
Break Down
Break down tables and chairs after the event and participate in general clean up of the event site, including trash maintenance and break down of boxes.
***Please make sure you keep personal valuable with you at all times or leave in your car if you drove. We do not have a secure place for valuables to be kept. Any valuables/personal items you leave in any area of the walk will be your sole responsibility.
